Bar Buddy

Privacy policy

Last updated October 5, 2026

This policy explains what Bar Buddy (“Bar Buddy”, “we”) collects through barbuddyai.com, the Bar Buddy app, the tutor console and the Bar Buddy Sync extension, and what we do with it. Questions: [email protected].

The short version. Your study data lives in your own browser. Our servers hold your sign-in details, scores you choose to sync, a temporary copy of your data when you move to a new address or browser, founding-seat reservations, and what you choose to share with a tutor. We don't take payments yet. We don't sell your personal information.

What we collect

On barbuddyai.com

We don't currently run third-party analytics or advertising pixels on barbuddyai.com. If we add any, this page will say so before they go live.

In the Bar Buddy app

In the Bar Buddy Sync extension

On supported bar-prep sites (AdaptiBar, BARBRI, One-Timers), the extension reads your own results pages in your browser and keeps scores only: question IDs, subject and topic, right or wrong, dates and time taken — never question text. It sends them to your Bar Buddy account, or straight into the app when you use it without an account.

Tutors

If you apply to the tutor pilot: your Google sign-in details, display name, headline, the jurisdictions you teach and your join codes.

Payments

Nothing on Bar Buddy takes payment yet, so we collect no payment or card details. Before checkout opens, this policy will say who processes payments and what they share with us.

Why we use it

Who receives it

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it, or delete it, by writing to [email protected] from the email on your account. We'll confirm it's you before acting, and won't treat you differently for asking. You can block or delete our cookies in your browser; the app still works.

California notice at collection

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the rights to know, delete and correct your personal information, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. You may use an authorized agent. This is what we collect, and why:

Children

Bar Buddy is for adults. It isn't directed to children under 16 and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Security and location

Data is sent over HTTPS and stored with our providers in the United States. Bearer tokens are stored only in hashed form. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects you, we'll tell you.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date, and tell you first if the change matters.
